Peterson Shamrock - o famoso irlandês ataca novamente!

Pra quem gosta de um modelo bem tradicional aí vai um Peterson Shamrock, provavelmente um cachimbo de segunda linha da Peterson também conhecidos como " seconds". São cachimbos muito bons que por algum motivo não alcançaram o padrão da marca e por isso não leva seu logotipo. Ótimo para iniciantes ou " murrinhas" que não querem investir muito mas desejam um bom cachimbo produzido por marcas renomadas. Este, não apresenta o corte do fornilho tão redondo como podem observar na foto que se segue. A pequena rachadurinha na beirada (que parece maior na foto do que realmente é) e o sinal de queimado na borda apresenta sinais de mal uso do último dono e não se relacionam com os singelos defeitos de fabricação. Porém, posso garantir, que tanto uma coisa quanto outra passam desapercebidos aos olhos de qualuqer um ao seu redor e em nada atrapalham na cachimbada.

Danish Freehand

Aquí está um belo exemplar. Cachimbo dinamarquês rico em detalhes e muito bem feito por um artesão de mão cheia. Como de costume vou colocar a descrição em inglês, que é mais bem explicada e como foi encontrada no dia em que comprei o cachimbo.

















GORGEOUS and LIGHTLY USED NORDING FREEHAND SHAPED estate pipe. This beauty has 360° OF GORGEOUS STRAIGHT (70%) and FLAME (30%) GRAIN, w/ birdseye on the bottom and a very clean plateau rim! This pipe is in fantastic condition, and has likely not been enjoyed more than a dozen times. The markings are very crisp, a testament to it's gentle handling.

This pipe is an classic example of the legendary Danish pipemaking tradition, with Erik Nording's pieces being some of the more sought after. This pipe fits quite nicely in the hand, and is a beautilful balance between function and design. A beautiful pipe from one of the greats in Danish pipemaking!

This one is sure to be an eminent example of how well-preserved estate pipes smoke better than new ones.

Markings: On the bottom of the shank is stamped F over NORDING over DENMARK. All stampings are crisp.

Bom dia, meus caros confrades. Hoje, é com muita alegria, que eu vos apresento um tipo de cachimbo muito popular nos Estados Unidos da Améria e pouco conhecido por nós.
Começarei com um texto achado na internet, que conta algumas das vantagens em se ter um corn cob pipe e também sua cativante e tradicional história que começa em 1869 em uma fazenda.
Bom, pra quem não entende patavinas de inglês, pelomenos as vantagens acho que é valido eu resumir aquí. Pois bem, em primeiríssimo lugar é um cachimbo que agrada a todo tipo de público. Exemplificarei usando estes vários tipo de público.
Se você é do tipo pobre, os corn cobs são muito mais baratos que outros cachimbos por aí. Se você é do tipo inexperiente, nada melhor que destruir um cachimbo barato e só depois aplicar as técnicas aprendidas em um cachimbo de R$500,00. Se você é do tipo experiente, os corn cob pipes são muito utilizados para experimentar o fumo, uma vez que o sabor não se altera em nada e você sentirá o gosto puramente do fumo, podendo testar novos blends e comparar tabacos.

In 1869 a Dutch immigrant woodworker named Henry first began production of the corn cob pipe. Legend has it that a local farmer whittled a pipe out of corn cob and liked it so much he asked Henry to try turning some on his lathe. The farmer was well-pleased with his pipes so Henry made a few more and put them for sale in his shop. They proved to be such a fast selling item that soon Henry spent more time making pipes for his customers than working with wood. Soon Henry went into full time production of corn cob pipes. In 1907 Henry’s company became the Missouri Meerschaum Company.

The word Meerschaum is taken from a German word that means sea foam. It is a Turkish clay used in high grade pipes. Henry likened his light, porous pipes and their cool smoke to that of the more expensive meerschaum pipes and coined the name Missouri Meerschaum for his pipes. Henry and a chemist friend devised an innovative system of applying a plaster-based substance to the outside of the corn cob bowls to make a smoother, more presentable pipe. In 1878, Henry was granted a US patent for this process.

A nationwide distribution system was established for the sale of his pipes. Other pipe firms also developed; by 1925 there were as many as a dozen corn cob pipe companies in Franklin County, most of them in Washington. Today, Missouri Meerschaum stands alone as the first and only surviving piece of the living history. These gentle pipes are smoked and loved all over the world as well as being used as souvenirs, often imprinted with the name of the city, business or event.

Fischer

Meu tempo está curto e dessa vez vou colocar o texto tal qual encontrei quando achei o cachimbo. É interessante. Vale a pena ler.

The "House of Fischer" or Fischer Pipes was a long established and well respected tobacconist in the Buffalo, New York area. Their reputation for quality and craftsmanship was well deserved. When Fischer closed their doors in the early 1970's it left many fond memories for those pipesters who frequented their shop.

This is a Nicely restored Fischer bent Rhodesian estate pipe. Probably from the late 1960's. Pipe has been reamed/cleaned (needed very little) and is ready for its' next firing. Air passageways are fully opened.

about 5 1/2"long, 1 1/2" bowl height, 13/16" bore diameter and 1 1/4" chamber depth. Weight is 1.59 oz. or 45 grams.

Pipe is in excellent condition. Has a "newness" about it. Handsome mixed grain with a dark maple coloration. Stem is in excellent condition without bite impressions. Shank nomenclature: "Fischer".

Gourd Calabash

Agora sim! Para quem aprecisa um antigo Gourd Calabash, aí vai um difícil de se encontrar. A pegada é excelente. Pra quem gosta de uma boa fumada fria, não tem comparação. É só encher o fornilho o seu e dar uma de Sherlock Holmes.

Belíssimo cachimbo italiano da marca Paronelli, novo, feito a mão. Mais bonito ao vivo. Bela aquisição!

Peterson St.Patrick's Day 2005

Peterson é um tradicionalíssimo cachimbo Irlandês que prima por qualidade e perfeição. Há ano vem adquirindo fãs or todo o mundo.
Todo ano a empresa lança uma linha de cachimbos em comemoração ao feriado mais badalado do ano no país: o dia de São Patrick. O exemplar da foto é do ano de 2005.
